Gina’s Story

Screenshot 2015-09-20 00.47.54My name is Gina Massingill and I was diagnosed with MS 24 years ago. I have had slow but steady progression of disability primarily in my legs and walking ability. The disease modifying drugs have not worked for me. However, there is a treatment that is being done with positive results that stops the progression of this disease. It is called HSCT (hematopoietic stem cell transplant).  It basically reboots my faulty immune system. Unfortunately, the US is still in trials so it is not available for me here but I do not have the luxury of time for an FDA approval because this disease is taking away my ability to walk little by little every day. While this treatment is the first bit of hope I’ve had in a very long time, it is expensive and insurance does not cover the cost.

Please understand this cruel disease comes with many varied problems that I have not had to endure, but my legs don’t think we have been all that fortunate. This treatment will at least stop it where it is and give me the chance to regain some of my lost function. I am fine with being my own advocate but I cannot do this alone. I really need your help. The cost is more than my sweet family can handle. I recently suffered the tragic loss of my precious 23-year-old son, Dylan, this May. I share this with you because, during that terrible time, I reconnected with a dear old friend who knew about this treatment. I choose to believe it is Dylan’s way of helping me from above. Please join me in any way that you can to help me keep walking.

Your support is critical to the overall success of my struggle.  Please know your contribution counts and makes my prospects for the future much brighter.  Thank you in advance for your kind consideration.

With sincere gratitude,

Gina Massingill
