My Journey to Keep Walking

My Journey to Keep Walking

I was diagnosed with MS 24 years ago. I have had slow but steady progression of disability primarily in my legs and walking ability. The disease modifying drugs have not worked for me. However, there is a treatment that is being done with positive results that stops the progression of this disease. It is called HSCT (hematopoietic stem cell transplant).  It basically reboots my faulty immune system. Unfortunately, the US is still in trials so it is not available for me here but I do not have the luxury of time for an FDA approval because this disease is taking away my ability to walk little by little every day. While this treatment is the first bit of hope I’ve had in a very long time, it is expensive and insurance does not cover the cost.
